Microsoft acquired Skype to integrate its technology into numerous products, from terminals with Windows Phone. Mango, the next operating system release, will add support for the front camera, which implies the ability to make video calls. It is natural then to assume that Skype will be the right software for this purpose.
The integration of Skype Phone on Windows but will not be available at launch of Mango, but undoubtedly will be added in a subsequent update. Meanwhile, the Estonian company is looking for a software engineer who will work in a team of 4-6 people who will take care of the development and optimization of Skype Video Engine for Microsoft Windows and Windows phone.
The job advert will also release a new version of Video Engine every 2 months. This indication would suggest that Microsoft wants to deal with mainly the integration of Skype into the mobile operating system. In fact it is known that the VoIP software will place in the Xbox 360 console and other products of the company in Redmond.
More information may be released during the conference Build Windows, scheduled for September. So far the only certainty seems to be the interface of the desktop version of Skype, according to the statement by Tony Bates, will not be modified to take Metro.
